16-02-2012

Today was the first official outing for drivers and teams of European F3 Open in Portimao,
where first Winter Tests event is scheduled at Autódromo do Algarve. The classification at
the end of the day was really close, with drivers from very different teams on top.
Alex Lynn was a nice surprise in the morning, when he was the fastest man on track driving
one of Dallara F308 lined up by Team West-Tec. However, his time of 1:41.829 was beaten by
Noel Jammal, who set a best lap of 1:41.270. Jammal, who was Cup class champion a couple
of seasons ago, finished today as first in overall classification, more than half second ahead of
Lynn.
Third place was for Sweden´s Mans Grenhagen, last addition to contest the European F3 Open
for Emilio de Villota Motorsport, just a few thousandths behind Lynn. Grenhagen exhibited a
good shape and his chances for this coming season. Meanwhile Juan Carlos Sistos and Tatiana
Calderón, driving other two cars fielded by Emilio de Villota´s team, were fourth and fifth
respectively.
Two young aces such as Alex Toril (Cedars) and Cristian Serrada (Drivex) were sixth and eighth
with Matteo Beretta (Cedars) finishing in the middle. Luca Orlandi, driving a second Team
West-Tec´s car, was ninth ahead of both Top F3 drivers: Alexandre Cougnaud and Pierre
Sancinena. Venezuela´s Valeria Carballo was 12th while improving her adaptation to Formula 3
car.
